Quotations from Chairman Ladyboss and the CEO

Kenneth Crawford Towe and Betty McCarn Towe, April, 1955
My beloved mother and father, Betty M. Towe (1910-1993) and Kenneth C. Towe (1893-1978), had many wonderful sayings, and I find that the older I grow, the more valuable their insight and wisdom become.
I would like to share some of their sayings with you.
From Ladyboss:
If you need an excuse, you can always find one!
It is a sin to do a job cheaply; it is a virtue to do a job inexpensively.
When in doubt, wear the black dress with the white pique collar.
You can always take it off, but you can't put it on if you don't have it with you.
It's all part of the process.
No man ever steals another man's wife, and no woman ever steals another woman's husband; they were ready to go; it was just a question of with whom and when.
Hindsight is 20-20.
Eat it 10 times, and then we'll discuss whether or not it tastes good. (C. E. McCarn)
It's a stupid bird that sullies its own nest. (This was a favorite of the CEO's, too!)
The Eleventh Commandment is : Thou shalt know the staff!
When people want to buy, that's the time to sell.
There are two ways of doing it: my way and the wrong way! {:-{)}
From the CEO:
40% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
You can't get into a pissing contest with a skunk and expect to come out of it smelling like a rose. (Judge William R. Perkins)
The trick is to grow old gracefully while still feeling young, and the first two steps in the transaction are: (1) Never lie about your age; and (2) If your hair is thinning, don't try to hide it.
What you make on the bananas, you lose on the peanuts.
What you know is important, but who you know is what really counts.
Never invest in a business venture with an office colleague; if it fails, you still have to look at each other.
In business, take every telephone call and never let your secretary ask what the call is in reference to.
You can't go broke taking a profit unless you're a pig!
